ABOUT
BAIRNS ROCK

History

Bairns' Rock was born out of 40 days of prayer. The church was looking for direction about how to be outward looking.  Some of the things that came out of that prayer time was that Jesus is our Rock and that Allan Park South church building is built into the rock that Stirling castle is built on.

Also we had the sense that God loves each of us perfectly and as Robbie Burns said "we're all Jock Tamson's  bairns" meaning we're all God's bairns.

We were thinking about what we could do with our limited resources and we came up with the idea that we could run a music group for under 3s.  We had some equipment, we wouldn't need a big team and we had the ideas.  The name Bairns' Rock is a play on us using music but being rooted in the rock of God.

The first Bairns' Rock was in September 2011.  It started slowly, but in those first few months we made friends with families who are now still our friends.

Ethos

"It takes a village to raise a child".  African Proverb

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself". Luke 10:27

"If you want your children to be clever, read them nursery rhymes.  If you want them to be really clever, read them more nursery rhymes" Albert Einstein

APS church recognises that it's hard work to bring up children.  We want to support families with this work.  We want Bairns' Rock to be a place where children and adults can feel loved, safe and accepted.  We want everyone to feel welcomed.  We want to be good neighbours to our communities.

Parents love their children more than they love themselves and want the very best for their children.  Parents often come to Bairns' Rock for the sake of their children then find that the adults make friends.
